Bob Dylan Releases A Night They Called It A Day Video

Bob Dylan’s new music video for ‘The Night We Called It A Day’ was once again directed by Australian stuntman/director Nash Edgerton.

Nash has previously directed Dylan’s ‘Must Be Christmas’, ‘Beyond Here Lies Nothing’ and ‘Duquesne Whistle’.

Bob Dylan’s album Shadows in the Night has been a surprise hit around the world. A collection of standards from the 30’s through the 50’s, the album has topped the charts in England and a number of Scandinavian countries.

On Monday, Dylan released a video for the 1941 song The Night We Called It a Day.
Nash has performed his tricks for The Matrix trilogy, The Thin Red Line, Superman Returns, and Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones and Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. He was the stunt double for Ewan McGregor in the Star Wars movies.

‘The Night They Called It A Day’ was written by Matt Dennis and Tony Adair.

The song has also been recorded by the likes of Frank Sinatra, Doris Day, June Christy and Diana Krall.

Bob Dylan may have enough new recordings of standards to fill another album.

The singer released Shadows in the Night last month, filled with standards from the 30’s through the 50’s, last month to surprisingly strong sales. Now, producer Daniel Lanois tells The Vancouver Sun (via Rolling Stone) that he’s heard another album worth of material.
“He felt that a lot of that music was written not only by great professional songwriters at the time, but a lot of it was written from the heart, from the wartime and [by] people just pining for a lover. He felt there was a lot of spirit in that music. He felt there was a kind of beauty, a sacred ground for him. After having said all that, we then listened to the music, and I felt everything that he talked about. For one of America’s great writers to say, ‘I’m not gonna write a song; I’m gonna pay homage to what shook me as young boy,’ I thought was very graceful and dignified.”

On Monday, Dylan released the video for the song The Night We Called It a Day from the Shadows in the Night album.
