I can't remember how many of my class mates emulated Cilla's hairstyles back then!Time for me to dust off some more old vinyls. Just as well I never threw them out. I hope I get to see this. Cilla Black - had an amazing voice!
Cilla, the three part biopic about the life of 60s UK pop star Cilla Black, is screening on ITV in the UK. It was on You Tube for a while, not any more.
Cilla stars Sheridan Smith, above, as Cilla Black, Ed Stoppard as manager Brian Epstein, Elliott Cowan as George Martin and Tom Dunlea as The Beatles’ Ringo, Michael Hawkins as George, Jack Fathing as John and Kevin Mains as Paul.
Production for the three-part series began in March 2014 in Liverpool, England.
Cilla Black had a parallel career to The Beatles. Like The Beatles, the Liverpool singer was managed by Brian Epstein and produced by George Martin. Her songs ‘Anyone Who Had A Heart’ and ‘You’re My World’ both topped charts in the UK and Australia and gave Cilla Black a top 40 chart hit in the USA.
Her song ‘Step Inside Love’ was written by Paul McCartney.
ITV honored Cilla Black’s 50 years in show business with ‘The One and Only Cilla Black’ special in October 2013.
Cilla was written by Jeff Pope and directed by Paul Whittington.

From Noise 11:
A coroner’s inquisition has determined that British singer and TV host Cilla Black died from a traumatic head injury after a fall in her home in Spain on August 1.
The coroner for the City of Liverpool, where Black grew up, said that the “thrust of the evidence clearly points towards only one conclusion which was an accidental death.”
Black, 72, was certified dead at 6:10 PM in her villa on August 1 but it is unknown when she fell.
Black will have a private funeral on August 20 at St. Mary’s Church in Woolton and will be laid to rest next to her parents in Allerton Cemetery outside of Liverpool.
In other news, Black’s family has been forced to remove all art and valuables from Black’s home in Denham, Buckinghamshire, England after a professionally cut hole was found in the fence surrounding the property.
While Black had only one hit in the U.S., You’re My World which made it to number 26 on the Billboard Hot 100, she had eleven top ten hits in the U.K. including number 1’s Anyone Who Had a Heart and World. She went on to have an extremely successful career as a host of television variety and game shows.
Sir Cliff Richard's emotional farewell at Cilla Black's funeral.
Many thanks to Jessica for this.
