Kris Kristofferson has recorded a cover of Tom Petty’s ‘I Won’t Back Down’ for a History Channel show.
Below - lots of familiar faces.
The producers of the History Channel’s upcoming mini-series Texas Rising, about the history of Texas after the fall of the Alamo, may include the Kristofferson cover in their trailer.
Kris Kristofferson puts his everything into his stark cover of Petty’s ‘I Won’t Back Down’, one that effectively recalls Johnny Cash’s later-career take on Nine Inch Nail’s Hurt.
It’s performed over scenes from the series that alternate war-torn with tenderness.
Kristofferson also portrays President Andrew Jackson in the film. According to Rolling Stone, other artists on the soundtrack include George Strait and Jose Feliciano.
